CLUB100 LIGHTWEIGHT SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP - RD1

Afternoon all, got back yesterday from the first round of the 2022 Club100 Sprint Championships at Buckmore Park Kart Circuit after a scrappy day.

I had a flying start to Heat 1 making up 4 or 5 places from 10th to 5th. But unfortunately one lap later an attempted an overtake on Dean Everest went horribly wrong at hairpin 1 which caused me to lock up and spin. A costly mistake for which I sorely hold my hands up and take full responsibility for. A huge shame after only just one lap, 14th in the end.

My second heat was an absolute stinker, I had a kart which had absolutely no top end and dropped like a stone from 4th to 9th. I was bitterly angered and furious with that result and by far the worst heat in my 3rd season in Club100.

The final heat was much more productive and I FINALLY had a kart that could give me the push through that I desperately needed

The final heat was much more productive and I FINALLY had a kart that could give me the push through that I desperately needed, I made up three places from 8th to 5th and kept up with Reece Pope ahead of me. But thanks to a penalty by Kevin Schofield I was promoted up one palace to 4th. I even managed to get the fastest lap of the race too.

I managed to still make the B Final, but that was as good as the day got. I started 10th but I got clattered around on the first lap at both hairpins which lost me precious time to the leaders and my efforts to qualify for the A Final where ruined.

All an all a disappointing start to the season but I know it is only the first round and there will be plenty more to come. The next round will be at Whilton Mill Go Karting and Outdoor activities on 20th March.
